From Gone But Not Forgotten by William L. Douglas, Jr., ca. 1980, Volume I, pages 83-85.
I had transcribed the following from GBNF before the same had been placed on the Lincoln Co., Missouri USGenWeb page at: Smith Cemetery I which has the same info. The first section following is an exact, unedited transcription from GBNF. I have reasearched all the names and families and have found that there are a number of typo/misreading errors. Further, from various other records from the families, it appears there were probably a number of other unmarked burials. Some possibilities are noted. The third section is my annotated version. The second section will contain further information about the 1992 enumeration done by Ollie Reeves.

There were probably other burials in the cemetery as well where stones were not placed, lost or buried and not found during the enumeration project. Within each surname group, I have also added certain individuals who 1) lived in the area, 2) died during the era when the Smith Cemetery I was active and 3) whose burials are not known. Alternatively, some may have been buried on the family farm or at Oak Ridge. (The earliest burial at Oak Ridge I have in my notes is 1859; possibly some earlier.)

Possible additional burials - Barnes:
Note that there was another Barnes line in Lincoln County that came from Edgecombe County, North Carolina via Davidson Conty, Tennessee. Descendants of Henry Barnes (1767-1832) and Rhoda Estes (1767-1848) who both died in Davidson County, Tennessee. It seems these Barnes lived in Union and Bedford Townships and were not related.
John D.-Son of R.L. & Nancy M. Damron Died Sept. 11, 1855 Aged-1 Yr. 6 M'S'. Footstone J.D.D.
John Daniel Damron was son of Robert Leeland Damron, Sr. (1829-1906) and Nancy Margaret "Nan" Roberson (1831-1916). Age at death from gravestone (no days) calculates to birth date of 11 March 1854, but internet databases give birth as 20 March 1854.

Elizabeth J. "Betty" (Robeson) Elsberry (probably Robinson) was born 2 June 1843 and died 20 Oct. 1863. She married 10 Sep 1863 at Pike County, Missouri to Thomas Sitton Elsberry (1843-1910). Mary Elizabeth Lilley b. 1835/1836; d/o William Lilly (1810-1888) and S. (Sarah?) Elizabeth Blackaby/Blackorby (1813-1892); married 18 Jan 1860 at Lincoln County to Fielding Hamilton (1836/7-aft1860); died 5 December 1860; buried Smith Cemetery I. Fielding and Mary in the 1860 census in Calumet Township, Pike County, Missouri (Page No. 183, Paynesville PO, he indexed as "Fieldney Hamilton," no children).
Possible Additional Burials:
Fielding Hamilton (1836/7-aft1860), husband of Mary Elizabeth Lilley who died 5 December 1860 and was buried at Smith Cemetery I. Nothing further found after 1860 about Fielding Hamilton.
Surname should be HUCKSTEP. Reeves (1992) recorded it as "Huckstep".
John E.-Born Mar. 9, 1812 Died Aug. 21, 1889 Aged-77 Y's. 1 Mo. 12 ds.
Other records indicate that John Fielding Huckstep (1812-1889) probably died in April, 1889, NOT August as indicated on the transcription. He married first on 19 November 1835 at Albemarle County, Virginia to Mildred Martin Estes, she born 25 May 1814; died 9 April 1867, presumably at Lincoln County, Missouri; daughter of Francis Coleman Estes (1778-1844) and Mary Christian Oslesby (1780-1835) (Francis Coleman Estes reportedly born 22 April 1778 in Albemarle County, Virginia and died 1844 in Lincoln County.) (Can't find any relationship to William Samuel Estes (1816KY-1888) who married at Lincoln County to Margaret Parke.) Seven (nine?) children. According to 1860 census birthplaces of children, the family apparently migrated to Lincoln County, Missouri between 1839 and 1841. John F. Huckstep married second 25 October 1870 at Lincoln County, Missouri to Mary Frances Lyon Graves (1819-1889).
John F. Huckstep and Mildred Martin Estes had a daughter, Martha Ellen Huckstep, born 3 July 1842, died 4 Oct 1844, burial place not known, possibly this Smith Cemetery.
Mary F.-Born Sept. 2, 1819 Died May 5, 1889 Aged-70 Yrs. 7 Ms. 13 ds. John & Mary on same stone-Footstone M.F.H.
Mary Frances (Lyon) (Graves) Huckstep (1819-1889) was born 2 Sep 1819 at Amherst County, Virginia; died 5 May 1889 at (presumed) Lincoln or Pike County, Missouri. (I don't have parents.) She married first 21 July 1844 at Nelson County, Virginia to Reuben Wyatt Graves (1811/2-1863). Six children. (Their daughter Margaret Elizabeth Frances Graves married 20 April 1863 at Lincoln County, Missouri to William "Bill" Shuck (1842-1931).) Mary Frances Lyon Graves married second 25 October 1870 at Lincoln County, Missouri to John Fielding Huckstep (1812-1889).
Cynthia Ann-Wife of James A. Ivans Died Apr. 7, 1876 Age-21 Yrs. 5 Mos. 24 ds.
Cyntha Ann (Roberson) Ivans (1854-1876) married 14 November 1874 at Pike County, Missouri to James (A.) "Ivins". Do not know her parents, poss. Robinson/Robertson/Robeson. Age at death calculates to birth date 14 October 1854. It appears that her husband was the James A. "Uncle Jim" Evans ("Ivins" in 1880) (Oct1851/2-Apr1928) who married 2nd 1878/1879 to Virginia "Jennie" Elsberry Jamison (1852-1914) (d/o Robert T. Elsberry). (1910 census - James A. Evans listed as "M2" - married twice.) Also, the 1880 census household of R. T. Elsberry where Jas. Ivins is identified as son-in-law, includes Mary Ivins, age 4. I believe that it is more likely than not that Mary Ivins was the daughter of Cyntha Ann Roberson Ivans and James A. Ivans/Ivins (later Evans).

Surname alternately spelled "Lilly". Edward Lilley (1849-1850) was son of William Lilly (1810-1888) and Elizabeth Blackaby (1813-1892). Edward Lilley age at death calculates to birth date 27 September 1849.William Lilley/Lilly was born 20 June 1810 in Massachusetts; married 14 June 1834 at Henry County, Kentucky to Elizabeth Blackaby (1813-1892); died 2 December 1888 at Lincoln County. Both buried Oak Ridge.

Nancy Keziah (Smith) Martin was born 18/19 November 1827 and died 19 February 1847. She was daughter of James Smith (1799-1867) and Elizabeth Ellis (1802-1877). She married 9 April 1846 at Lincoln County to John Peter Martin (est1828-?).It appears that she had one daughter, Mary E. Martin, born about 1847 (age 3 in 1850 census, age 13 in 1860 census) and may have died during or as a result of childbirth.
J.C.-Born May 18, 1847 Died May 1, 1905-57 Ys. 11 Ms. 13 ds.

Mary-Died April the 10th 1817(Could be 1877) Mary Mc Queen Aged-2 Years 2 Months 25 days
Mary McQueen was born 16 January 1875 and died 10 April 1877. (1817 likely not correct, since that was long before significant migration to Lincoln/Pike County and first recorded burials at the Smith Cemetery.) Parents not proven, but possibly daughter of James Cornelius McQueen (1847-1905) and Mary Frances "Fanny" Martin (1854-1913).

Thomas McQueen was born 2 August 1851, died 11 January 1879, son of Alfred (Alford) McQueen (1823-aft1870) and Angeline Sidwell (1823/4-?). Apparently the Thomas McQueen who married 04 August 1870 at Lincoln County, Missouri to Annie Evans (aka Ivens, Ivins, Ivans).
Possible additional burials - McQueen:

Other McQueen notes:
In the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses, the family surname of Noah is spelled "Robbinson" and "Robinson." Various records of descendants also alternately spell "Robinson" and "Roberson."
Noah-Died Dec. 6, 1876 Aged-80 yrs.
Noah Roberson/Robinson was reportedly born 1796 in Hawkins County, Tennessee, but in the censuses of 1850, 1860 and 1870 reported his birth state as Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina, respectively.
Jane-Wife of N. Roberson Died Feb. 15, 1855 Aged-72 Ys. 3 Ms. & 27 ds. Noah & Jane on same stone
Jane Roberson, (Mary Jane (Ellis) Roberson/Robinson), wife of Noah, was born 18/19 October 1802 in Kentucky, d/o Peter Ellis as described in the biography of her son Noah Marion Roberson (1840-1909). Consequently, her age at death should have been transcribed as "52 Ys. 3 Ms. & 27 ds." which conveniently resolves the discrepancy. Some sources report her as d/o Abraham Ellis (1786-1848) and Barbara Lee. That is apparently incorrect.
"Our subject's [Noah Marion Roberson (1840-1909)] mother bore the maiden name of Mary Jane Ellis. She was born in Kentucky, October 18, 1802, and was the daughter of Peter Ellis, who came to this state in a very early day, and made this section his home until his decease. Mrs. Roberson died February 15, 1855, after having become the mother of eight children, of whom our subject was the youngest." Infant-Daughter of N.M. & Frances Roberson Born Feb. 15, 1876 Died Mar. 20, 1876 Aged-3 Weeks(Note discrepancy in age by dates child would have been 1 Mo. 5 Days not 3 weeks.
This was daughter of Noah Marion Roberson (1839-1909) and Frances Ulery (1841-1890).

She married 17 April 1866 (recorded in St. Louis County) by Rev. Wesley Browning of the Methodist Episcopal Church to Cornelius Shuck. Nine children, seven surviving into adulthood. Cornelius Shuck was born 5 June 1840, son of Levi Shuck and Eliza Kitson; died 25 December 1928; buried 26 December 1928 at the Elsberry City Cemetery.
Probable additional burials - Shuck:
Hattie Missourie (Missourie Hattie) Shuck was b. 9 Nov 1873, died 27 Aug 1874, and GBNF transcription shows a gravestone at the Smith Cemetery. The following Shuck's (who were her aunts, uncles and sibling) lived in the Smith Chapel area, died around the same time and were probably buried at the Smith Cemetery although no gravestones have been found.
The family Bible records of Cornelius and Ellen (Smith) Shuck list the birth of a child, Daniel M. Shuck, born 28 May 1872 (presumed near Dameron). There is no further information about him (i.e. no census listing or death entry in the Bible), so he apparently died as an infant and would likely have been buried at the Smith Cemetery.

Infant Son-Born Oct. 24, 1870 Died(illegible)1870
were children of William L. Smith (1841-aft1900) and Frances (J. or L.) "Fannie" Barnes (1848-aft1900). I have been unable to determine if, or how, William L. Smith may have been related to the other Smith's. Apparently a different Smith line. Frances (J. or L.) "Fannie" Barnes Smith was daughter of John Gibson Barnes (1920/1-1897) and Mary J. Smith (1823-1879); Mary J. Smith was daughter of James Smith (1799-1867) and Elizabeth Ellis (1802-1877).
Infant Daughter-Born & Died Sept. 16, 1872 (Children of W.L. & Fannie L. Smith (One Marker)
Joseph Spencer "Spence" Smith (1844/5-1900) born 1844/1845 in St. Ferdinand Township, St. Louis County, Missouri; died 20 March 1900 in Lincoln County, Missouri. Brief death notice was published in Troy Free Press, but does not identify cemetery. I believe he was the son of Levi Smith (1797-1851) and Mariah (Patton) Smith (1816/7-aft1880) and brother of Ellen Agnes Smith Shuck (1842-1885); apparently married 9 September 1879 at Lincoln County to Sarah W. Sanders (1858-aft1900)
The following are individuals who are 1) related to those who are buried at Smith Cemetery 2) lived and/or died in the area of Smith Chapel (North Lincoln, South Pike Co.) 3) died mid to late 1800's 4) death dates and burials unknown and 5) some possibility they may have been buried at Smith Cemetery but are probably less likely than others, above. These may have been buried elsewhere (possibly Oak Ridge or Pike County) or on the farm.
