Patton - Other Families

In May, 2019 I received emails from a couple of researchers about their Patton lines. They did not appear to be connected to those I had listed on my other page. I had not researched the Patton's for many years, leaving a number of open items, and could not provide any information about them. Following are their queries. Email me and I will forward their contact information.

My ancestor is: James M. Patton born abt. 1744, maybe in Somerset Co, Penn. He died around 1818 in southwestern Indiana, probably Vanderburgh county. I have one source that says he was a Staff Officer during the Amer. Rev., but gave no details. (According to the "North America, Family Histories, 1500-2000", page 21.) I do not know who his parents were. He married Phoebe McAllister, born ca 1754 in Cumberland County, Penn. Her parents are John McAllister 1724-1795 and Catherine McKnight 1730-. They had a son High Henry Patton 1795-1876. Hugh’s son marched with Sherman during the Civil War. They had a daughter, Mary Polly Patton 1786-1869 who married David Berry Brumfield 1786-1866. This is my line. Other that the material above, I can find nothing on this Patton line. It has proved to be my brick wall.

I am descended from John Paton who married Margaret Muir on the 19th January, 1789 at Green Hall in the Parish of McIntyre, Sorn, Ayr Scotland. The marriage entry in the parish records says that he comes from Sawerston, which is near Mauchline. I'm not su re how many children they had but I am descended from their son, John Paton, born and baptised 7th June, 1792 at the Church of Scotland, Sorn. His parents were living at Sawerston Farm. These references were sourced from Scotland's People. This John got himself in a spot of bother and was transported to Sydney onboard the Lord Eldon arriving 1st October, 1817. He married fellow convict Mary Jones in 1832. I am trying to nut out the genealogy of the Patons at Sawerston if possible. I was wondering if you know anything more about this branch please.
